8 Month SEO Check Up

Back in October 2024 I started working intentionally on my projects SEO and Domain Rating (DR) in the hopes that I’d start getting organic traffic to my websites 6 to 12 months later. My original post about my approach can be found here.

I spent around 3 months working to find easy opportunities to get backlinks and then stopped in January 2025. Work and life got hectic so I really only had time to work on the product. Fast forward to today → I checked in last week and saw that the domain had recently jumped 10 DR, going from 14 to 24! I was so excited. From what I’ve read once your domain crosses the 20 DR threshold it becomes a bit easier to land on the first page in Google.

A few observations

I created a Chrome extension called Tilt Tracker in the hopes of getting a powerhouse backlink from Google. Disappointingly 6 months since launching it hasn’t verifiably helped my DR. It has a few users but I haven’t promoted it much. I’ll keep checking on it and see if / when it starts ranking.

Early on I saw a decent increase, quickly going from 0.4, to 2, to 10, then as high as 18 after the first month or two. Then out of now where it came back down and hit around 11. I’m not sure why it this happened, but I do know if you keep getting high quality links over time (think 8 to 12 months) you will see progress.

Current domain stats

I’m going to keep track of the stats on all my domains and do another check in around the year mark or when I see a big upswing in ranking. Hopefully everything will be 20+ DR and Traderstats will be above 30 DR 🙏

• thealexporter.com → 11 DR, 37 referring domains

• payoutcalc.com → 9 DR, 40 referring domains

• traderstats.app → 24 DR, 64 referring domains
